iOS 10時代のカラーバリエーションには及びませんが、今回は普通のサイズ（10では高さ1ピクセルのマイクロサイズでした）でのトリックです。他のトリックと組み合わせて使うこともできます。
バグの類いではなく正常なルールを利用している点も違います。バグの修正で使えなくなることはありません。ルールの変更があるまでは、果てしない応用の可能性があります。

iOS 12が公開された時には既に試作に成功していました。しかしX系で共用できそうだったのでiPhone XRを待ったんです。フォーマットの改良とバリエーションの決定にも時間がかかってしまいました。
iOS 12のアプデ速報の「透明度を下げる」項目では「背景を暗くして彩度を下げた1色」と書いています。１色というのがポイントです。厳密にはドックとフォルダそれぞれが１色ですね。ベースは背景全体の色となります（これも厳密にはドックとフォルダで違います）。背景色を拾うけど通常モードのようにドックやフォルダの場所によって色を変えることはしないという意味です。変更そのものは隠してませんが、偏った色遣いをすればドックとフォルダを操ることもできるとは気づかれないようにさらりと書きました。
ドックとフォルダを隠すイレイザー壁紙は充分なカラバリを揃える前にiOS 12.1で色が変わってしまったため、iOS 12.0をスキップさせています（XRは結局12.1に間に合わず）。黒や赤はiOS12でも使えるはずですが緑や水色は使えません。
ペインター壁紙は色が若干変わるだけなので12でも12.1でも使えます。
